Each year the Ohio Epsilon Chapter is proud to distribute scholarships amongst its members and to incoming students. In 07/08 the Ohio Epsilon Chapter alone gave away over $5000, which does not include scholarships given by the national organization. In 2008 our chapter had two national scholarship receipients:
Mike Barrie (left) graduated in January 2008 with a BA in Biology. Since then, he's worked on campus in the Brain, Mind and Consciousness Lab as a Research Assistant. In August, Mike will start medical school at Ohio State University. Mike had an exciting four years as a Phi Psi at Case, holding positions from chapter Historian to Treasurer. Some of his favorite memories are from the Leadership Academy in Cabo, Mexico in winter 2008. Don't forget to ask him about his early experience at Woodrow Wilson Leadership School in Summer 2005, which was in Las Vegas that year. Mike explains that he Phi Psi opened many doors for him while at Case, giving him opportunties to connect with alumni, meet diverse undergraduates, and win local and national Phi Psi Scholarships (totally over $4,000, with hopefully more to come to help pay for medical school).
Joe Friedman (right) is a senior English education major from New Jersey. This Fall, he will attend Teachers College at Columbia University to obtain a Masters degree. Some endearing memories of his valuable Phi Psi experience include strong involvement in alumni relations, kicking back and enjoying the slip 'n slide at our charity 24 hour softball tournament, and forming strong bonds with brothers (then losing to them in Guitar Hero).
